Grappling

Grappling is a type of fighting system. It uses throws, takedowns, and special holds. The main goal is to control an opponent on the ground. Fighters also try to force a "submission." This often means making them give up safely. Grappling usually does not involve hitting or weapons. It has a very long history in sports and combat. Ancient Greeks and Romans helped create formal grappling. Styles like Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu became popular later. Grappling is key in Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA. Police also use its techniques for control. Common moves include throws, pins, and escapes. Good grapplers rely on skill and technique, not just power. Wrestling and Sambo are other well-known grappling styles. Grappling even appears in the Olympic Games.
