Kowloon Walled City was a small place in Hong Kong.
It started as a military fort.
After Hong Kong went to Britain, this city stayed Chinese-run with no real rules.
Many people, especially refugees, moved there after the war.
It became very crowded, with over a million people in one square kilometer.
Because there were no laws, people could sell almost anything.
Illegal things like drugs were also sold there.
The city was ruled by gangs and had a lot of crime.
Living conditions were often bad.
The British planned to remove it in the 1980s.
They finally knocked it down.
People got money to move away.
Now, part of it is a park, and some old parts remain.
